I don't know if this will work, but try this:
  1. Open the Folder Options control panel (quick access: open the Start menu, type folder options, press Enter)
  2. Switch to the View tab
  3. Disable the option called "Hide empty drives in the Computer folder"
  4. Click OK

Are you talking about formatting and starting over? If so, then just boot from the Windows 7 installation DVD and perform a clean installation.

Then it still needs to be configured in Disk Management. It's been a very long time since I've done it, so all I can remember is that the drive has to be right-clicked in Disk Management. From there, I just remember seeing some options that made sense...

do you mean you see it under Computer Management?

If so, just click inside the shaded area of the drive, right click on the drive(should have a black bar across the top), and format.

make sure you check the box quick format and label it.
