Just found a Dell AT101!

Thread Starter
I was just at a church rummage sale by my college, and I was peaking through their old technology that was for sale, and I saw a couple keyboards. I walked over, picked one up, and it weighed a ton, and I knew that I had to have it. I bought it, plugged it in, and now I'm typing to you all on it. I'll add pictures later after class (I've got one in 15 minutes), but I want your help in figuring out what its how old it is, what switches it has, what its worth, and how much time I should spend cleaning it up and caring for it.

So what I can gather from the top:
  • No Windows key
  • Old Dell logo (Not like this, a fair bit older, just vertical letters)
  • The lights for Num Lock, Caps Lock, and Scroll Lock all work
  • It needs a bunch of TLC, and a really deep clean
From the bottom:
  • A number on a white sticker: 43197
  • Keyboard Model: AT101 (no w or anything else)
  • FCC ID: GYI13PVAT101
  • Its made in the USA (woooo!)
  • This one really confused me: an upside down question mark followed by 0169660
  • A backwards R followed by a U, with the subscript E119730
  • A SA in a loop with the subscript LR67730
Thanks all!

I also found another keyboard that they threw in that is a huge mess (again, pictures coming later) that says seems to be made by 2001? I don't know, I'll just post what is on the bottom of the keyboard.
  • Made in Taiwan
  • Focus Electronic CO., LTC
  • The FCC ID on the bottom is FSQ4VYFK-2001

Uhh, church sales? Apparently one of my really good friends parent's had an original Model M and a really old Apple mechanical keyboard that were in a basement that got flooded, and then he threw it away before telling me a couple weeks ago.

So frustrated. This was my first score, and I'm really happy about it. Best of luck in your quests!

Nice. Original AT101s are relatively rare, compared to the newer AT101W at least.

I have been absolutely everywhere looking for a vintage mech, garage sales, thrift stores, rummage sales, flea markets, etc.
Just cannot seem to find one in this area of ATL

I'm probably not going to hang onto both of the keyboards, I already have a (way too expensive, but really really really nice) Realforce 86u, so there will probably be one more mechanical keyboard going onto the market. But that's a discussion for another time.

I am in a lab right now, and I'm loving having a mechanical keyboard instead of the instead of a crappy new $5 ones.

Waar, should I care about the Focus? It seems to me like the Dell is the much nicer and more worthwhile keyboard of the pair. And thanks so much for the link!

I don't own one, but I heard they are good keyboards. Just looks like yours needs a lot of TLC.

What color alps does it have?
