Best coolant: WFI and what else?

Hi,

Having done a small research I have come to the conclusion that Distilled water in combination with a silver kill coil is one of the best combinations to be used in a watercooling loop.

My concern is that Distilled water (water for injection in my case) has usually a pH of ~5 which doesnt seem to be very good for a waterloop.

Would you suggest to use/add anything else together with the silver kill coil or water with silver is sufficient?

Any of you who use only Distilled water and kill coil, have you come across any problems e.g. algae, corrosion etc?

Thanks!

.

Thats all you need really(I add PT nuke for extra algee defence). That doesnt protect corrosion - as long as you aint mixing metals then you should be fine.

Glad to know you finally decided toget wet. Distilled water and the coil is the best option. Replace the water once a year though it is not neccessary. Additive could be more corrosive if uninhibited.

Good to know its OK, from guys who are already using it, since this low pH really worried me

Note: Ken I am glad I will watercool, but to tell you the truth I never expected my watercooling parts to reach the amount of ~1500 euros!

"Water for injection" is not distilled water. It's sterile water, there's a difference. You can drink distilled water to your heart's content but if you drink too much sterile water, you'll starve your body's cells.

Distilled water is pH neutral. It has no solutes in it.

Just use distilled water and a kill coil. Do not use sterile water.

Any ideas where to find Distilled water within Europe?
