Building a 2.1 system for <$90

Thread Starter

Hey guys,
I was considering building myself an audio set up for <=$90. It's either this or the Corsair SP2200's which obviously are pre-built.
These are the main components I was considering:
Amp - http://www.parts-express.com/pe/show...number=310-300
Speakers - http://www.parts-express.com/pe/show...number=300-652
I would need cabling too. I don't have the slightest idea what or which or how many cables of what sort I would need, so links would be nice.
Here is the DAC:

Here are my questions:
(1) I have headphones which I would also like to connect, do these speakers/amp have either a "pass-through" port for headphones or another 1/8" plug for headphones?
(2) Is there any better set up that you would recommend in the same price range that would allow me to do this?
(3) I have a standard 1/8" line-in mic too. I can plug that in to the mobo's onboard sound, but are there amps that allow you to do this? If so, that would be nice.
Edit
Most importantly... what would I need to do to assemble this? Any soldering or such?
Thanks in advance.

ive been looking at this setup also for awhile and i've heard some mixed reviews. for the price i hear they're a decent amp and set of speakers. but feel a little on the cheap side

in regards to assembly, you do not need to solder anything as the amp and speaker use spring clamps. you will need 18 gauge wire(typical speaker wire). you might want to drill holes and mount the amp on one of the speaker casings/desk for ease of use.

judging by the pictures, it does not look like there is a headphone pass through jack. one reason i didnt like that amp.

one more thing, just wanted to let you know but these dayton's are unshielded, so if you have anything magnetically sensitive they might not be the best choice.

For PC Desktops sinking $99 on DAC and so little to amp/speakers is not optimal shopping for the best SQ for your money? Hit an Asus Xonar DG and maybe a Polk M10 off Zon? If u fine with used audio hardware Craiglist for cheap stereo/power amp/receiver?
