1035T Experet Advice Needed! Stable Overclock?

Thread Starter
the processor is running at 3.2Ghz vs 2.6Ghz stock
core voltage is at 1.36V
multiplier is at x 12.5
bus speed is at 256.0 MHz

here's the newbie bit

default settings
HT 2000 MHz
NB 2000 MHz

When I overclock the CPU to 3.2GHz then the closest settings I can match to original without going over the defaults are:

HT 1792
NB 1792

I don't go over the defaults because I don't know if it is stable to do so.

next level settings are at

HT 20xx
NB 20xx

My question is where do you think I can safely leave the HT and NB at?

Also, I don't even know where to start on northbridge voltage, or if I should even bother.

My main concern was to get better performance out of my CPU through overclocking.

I've tested the performance with PassMark's PerformanceTest and these are the results:

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/685/resultvj.png

According to the results my CPU can now compete with Intel's Core i7 940 and is almost on par with AMD's 1100T, given that they are at their default clocks.

I've ran prime95 for 4 hours and temps don't go over 46C.

My last question is:

Even if I didn't get something right for the HT and NB settings, at the end of the day could this be called a successful overclock?

Just keep it as close to 2000 dont worry about going over or under a little. Once you max your cpu you can start with cpu-nb. Ht keep as close to 2k at all costs.

Your only still at 3.2 im sure you can go a lot further than that. Aim for 3.8-4ghz.
By the way fill out your system specs so poeple know what you are working with.

also you don't need to or want to keep the NB clocks at default. Up that multi with the FSB and up the CPU/NB voltage to 1.25-1.3

leave the HT at or closest to 2000 as you can

Ninja should have read the first response!

I would overclock further but I am worried about dramatically decreasing the lifespan of the CPU.

Wouldn't 1.4V make it fry quicker?

Plus, will 3.2GHz be as far as most games and apps will need for the next six years?

If your temps are below 55C you are all good sir....

Temp max 62C recommended max 55C for those chips. Also I have read but can't confirm save voltage up to 1.55v - That is on air cooling

I feel a little pain in some games at 3.5Ghz! I don't do any rendering or anything so in other app I don't really feel any faster then my stock 2.8

Also, when I run prime95 then my core voltage drops to 1.34 from 1.36, is this normal?

Is this for real!?

So my cpu might actually be a bottleneck for some games even at 3.2GHz!???

Nooooooo!!!

No No. You dont have your sig filled in but it depends on your Gpu and monitor/resolution configuration. That info would tell more

That voltage drop is called vdoop. I have my settings as:

CPU Load Line Calibration (LLC) - Auto
CPU/NB LLC - auto
CPU Spread SPecturm - Disabled
PCIE SPread Spectrum - Disabled

Those are the settings I read were best and have worked for me.

WIth those bios settings I have 1.375v set in bios for vcore, and load at 1.39v. With OC'ing you want it that why and not the vdoop.

The bottle neck would only occur with a high end GPU and lower resolutions like 1680x1050. Or CF/SLI with 1080p. Its a known bottleneck but usually not a factor since you will still get over 60fps generally so unless you are running 120hz monitors you will be ok.

I have the same issue with my sig. but with 1080p and eyefinity on games I want to play in that I don't see the bottleneck.

With that you should be ok no worries

No monitor there but unless it is 4:3 you should be good.

The bottleneck happens when you go SLI with the 570 and the AMD CPU can't deliver the info fast enough for the GPU's. However with just the 1 GPU and what I imagine is a 1080p monitor you are ok. Although you will still get less FPS then a intel CPU I still wouldn't call that a bottleneck.
