Okay guys, i need help before i smash this useless SSD with a sledge hammer..

I need to update my Firmware now that the stupid BSOD issue is fixed. However. i can't since well, i'm using the drive on windows.

So i popped in my Linux flash drive and booted it up, downloaded the firmware... And i can't extract the POS to run it.

Could you please explain how? No damn guide on the internet i can find will tell me, seems the good ol gzip doesn't work, its once i get to the .zip inside that i can't extract. can't open it on Windows either, redownloaded 7 times, same thing, each time.

See this is what happens. Someone doesn't read how to do it , then just trashes the SSD. I've NEVER had any problem updating my Vertex3 and I've done very one of them.Yes, it is the OS drive.
Read this link
It tells you exactlly how to do it.
Make sure you extract the firmware first.

This is the method I use. I don't recall ever having to extract the firmware unless it's being done automatically.

You will have to disconnect power to the drive for 10 seconds to unfreeze it so the firmware will take.

Once your on the Linux desktop, there is a icon there unfreeze the SSD. You might not need to do it. I didn't (this time) Just try to update it first, it will say your drive is "locked" or something like that if you need to unfreeze it.
Once you download he firmware, right click on it and then click on extract here. Follow the directions on the page.

I just updated to 2.15 with that method.

Once you unzip the iso and use the universal usb installer to make the pendrive bootable, there is nothing more to extract.

Once loaded, click the update firmware icon and it will find the ocz drive and update it automatically.

If the update says the drive is locked, you can "try" the unfreeze icon which will put your system to sleep and wake it back up. That method has never worked for me so unplugging the drive's power connector for 10 seconds is what OCZ has told me to do.

Once the drive is updated, you need a power cycle to complete it. Logout and reboot back into Linux. Now it is done.
