Need some Quick Advice

Thread Starter
I have a MSI 480GTX Lightening arriving in a few days and I'm concerned that the OCZ 550W Fatal1ty supply might not be enough. I'd rather not buy a larger supply if I can use the one I already have installed. I know from experience that this 550W PS can run 460GTX SLI easy enough. Will I be ok using this 550w supply with the 480GTX ?
There's a sale at Newegg (promo code discount) plus rebate for a Corsair PS but the promo ends tonight. I'd rather put the $100 towards an LCD monitor but if I must have a larger supply I don't want to miss this sale. Therefore, some fast replies would be much appreciated ...

You're good, even if you overclock both CPU and GPU.

Just read the following; it will be ok if I do not OC the 480GTX so I think I'll go with a Corsair TX750 V2 ...

That OCZ Fatal1ty 550W PSU has only 2 PCI-e connectors ?

I had the MSI GTX-480 Lightning off NewEgg Open box for about a week, so I know it takes TWO x's 8 pin PCI-e connectors to run just that one card. My BFG LS-680 had that and more, but I'm not sure if the PSU had the juice, or if the card really was just defective, I could never get the BIOS/WIN7 et all to recognize the GPU or get it running, I mean the fans would spin so I know it got power but that was it ... and eventually I just RMA'd it back to NewEgg and got my TOXIC instead.

I do know THAT card is HUGE ! I mean REALLY HUGE ! I hope your case is too or it will barely fit, and I know it's a POWER HUNGRY animal especially if you OC it, and that's a card you buy to OC to the MAX ! ... so yeah I think you're making the right call in upgrading to a bit better PSU. Better safe than sorry on this one.
