Myself- Quickly I have Been a console game since the ps1. But, recently got very into SC2 by the you-tuber X. I am very into the computer gaming world now and love youtube ( starting a channel myself for gameplay and lets plays). Hence one reason i need a new computer, besides gaming of coarse. But enough of that.

Uses for this build:
  1. Gaming
  2. 24 hour power on
  3. editing
  4. Photoshop
  5. After Effects cs5
  6. Adobe Premiere
  7. Cinema 4D
  8. School work

November 14, 2011 the new Lga 2011 sandyE bridge will be released. Quad channel memory controller built on the cpu die which would kill any photoshop based program espesically with 16gb of dominator gt ram @2000mhz. The intel Core i7 3820 will feature 4 cores 8 threads 3.60ghz and 10mb of l3 cache for about $300. It will almost kill the 980X in almost every aspect of what you decribed in your uses.

Just because of all the multimedia stuff you're going to be doing on top of the gaming I would recommend the 2600k. Good for overclocking and has 8 threads which will help with your productions.

Or you could wait another month or so for the new SandyBridge-E processors since this is a completely new build. However, the cheapest SB-E processor (Core i7 3820) cannot be overclocked nearly as well as it's older brothers.

So to be honest, unless you want to spend almost $600 on a SB-E processor (which would benefit you since it has 6 cores/12 threads, IF you have the budget) I'd probably stick with a 2600k instead.
