Real life physics systems will make 3d worlds completely interactive, not like frostbite engine, but literally every element in a game world will be made up of thousands of particles, and they will be programed to react like the physical materials they represent.

I am sure some companies, like Nintendo, will come up with all kinds of ways to make the movements of real life incorporate into the game world. But most hardcore gamers will not be able to do a cross fit workout for 3 hours of gaming, so wasd or something like that will stay at the forefront of interaction for some time.

Detail is the immediate feature, concept changes will open up new types of gaming at some point, but we need a couple more Mark Zuckbergs before that happens.

tl;dl - watch the video.

You know thats a hoax right?

Edit: I have always thought there are many different possibilities of what could happen. Maybe we will experience entertainment in our sleep, like a dream but controlled. Then we could spend more time doing the productive things like studying or working.

Maybe computers will be integrated into our brains, who knows

Time will tell. But I am sure we will be alive long enough to witness something wonderful.

Also, dunno about photo-realism, I don't think it'll necessarily go that way, it'll just look incredible and realistic, kinda like Gran Turismo 4's intro on the PS2, where the guys are walking away from the shot in hazy heat. On a 21" and under TV, that still looks absolutely amazingly realistic.
By photo realisim I just mean really real looking like you said (didnt know what to call it).

Also the feedback is great! (A bit depressing to start with but w/e) Thanks guys!

I'm going to go the depressive route here.

We are currently lacking in fantastic new tech. We haven't seen anything new like the first pc in years. Tablets are the latest craze and that's just it. A craze. We are in a stagnant position where money has become and the object and why invent when something is already the same job.

I think the way the world is going we will all be nothing in the next 10-20 years. Think about it. Oil is running out. Food is running out. Water is running out. Everything that we rely on to live is running out. A bleak outlook but true. I'm sure we will evolve and be better human beings for it. Even electric cars rely on oil for the powerstations to make the power. We long past the innovation revolution.

Sorry but I just can't see games doing anything new and exciting any time soon.

Yahoo story today predicts the demise of the gaming console within the next 10 years, same prediction about DVD for storage.Prediction is no need for removable storage media.I kind of remember the prediction about the "paperless office" not so long ago.One that I really like was from about 1900 or so "everything that can be invented (or maybe it was needs to be invented) already has been invented".

Time spent worrying about the future, is time wasted that you could spend enjoying what we have now.

Transistors will hit a limit at 8nm when quantum mechanics starts to come into play and electrons start behaving like waves rather than particles…

We will need an entirely new design, process and materials to overcome it = quantum computing

50 years from now I see us plugging into something similar to “the matrix” complete undistinguishable from reality.
