New fx CPU or i7? - Page 5

AMD is looking pretty bust with their new CPU lineup.

They claim it works better on Windows 8 because Windows 7 and earlier OS cannot properly distribute workloads on all BD modules due to its new and somewhat strange architecture.

Of course, anandtech did look into this and posted a small table with benchmark results using Windows 8 developers preview, showing meager looking performance gains.

Keeping in mind however, BD seems to work better as a server CPU as opposed to a consumer CPU. (Regardless they did bad for releasing it into the consumer market with that performance in the first place).

So with that said, there is not much point in buying an FX processor considering it's out-performed by its Phenom II predecessor in many areas.

Intel's the way to go.

Lol Sandy gets hot overclocked?

If you have good cooling your insane. A cheap Hyper 212 will cool a 4.5Ghz i5/i7 and chances are, if you have a decent/nice case, it won't ever break 60*C

My temp right now on my 1055t is at 28c and my i7 would be at like 38c to 40c and under load my 1055t only hits 46c and the i7 hits 98c to 99c. both with stock coolers and both with no case.
a stock i7 that hits 98c is not normal, even for lynnfields.

a 2600k will get just as hot as any previous gen i7 if you push it enough, even under water. 32nm doesnt mean invincible.

I don't know why it hit that, it just did. It wasn't in a case so I don't know if it couldn't pull enough air or what. Also it is a micro ATX board so the GPU and ram were right up next to it so that could have been a factor also. And my room is always about 84F =[
