I just wanted to add that you don't want to completely remove Powertune throttling as someone else suggested. It's the safety that keeps the card from frying itself. You can tell when you hit TDP limits because the performance will start to drop off, plateau or even stutter. However, it's really hard to hit TDP limit with +20%. AB can't control anything in regards to AMD's powersaving features, you should keep that in mind when using AB.

good deal...appreciate the info

as of now i havent seen any of the tail tell signs of any throttling or anything as of recently...but for now ill just leave powertune off and leave the OC i have now alone...everything seems to be running good and if i run into any issues i should have plenty of OC room left on this card

i do have a question...my card has the ability to adjust the 3 voltages....core,memory and aux voltage...will adjusting any of those have any effect on the TDP or the powertune 20%...i would assume no...but i figured i would ask

and sorry for all the questions that seem very simple...but for some reason i cant get my head around this thing so i appreciate everyones responses

Adjusting Voltage seems to bypass the PowerTune in my experience. In some cases when running GPU intensive, increasing the TDP limit helps to prevent throttling.

Sorry, I just don't want go contradicting what general publics believe LOL

Give it a try adjusting those settings. It is not going to hurt anything prevailing the OC full load GPU & VReg not breaking the 75-80c mark.

Whats so hard about it? Raising volts will require more TDP pushing you closer to whatever X TDP limits.

Also changing volts doesn't disable Powertune obviously since they are related but are not interchangeable. The problem is that most overclocking apps don't know how to manage both like an unlocked Overdrive from AMD. This is why I don't overclock with AB.

Running Furmark is the only time I've seen the Powertune take effect. It throttles almost immediately unless I adjust the slider. That's a good way to see how it's affecting your card.

i didnt think there was anything hard about it...but just wanted to get an answer on the adjusting voltage question

so far ive only done my OC from inside CCC...but ive been using AB to monitor temps and gpu usage inside and out of games

yeah after doing some more reading on Powertune istead of Power control settings....i found an article on anandtech i believe which talked about how only Furmark and Metro 2033 ran into issues with TDP throttling....but i dont use Furmark and i dont own Metro 2033...so i guess im safe for now
