It was payday and they were on sale and I just...

did I do a good thing? My current setup has zero information on the internet, some old random Hitachi speakers and another random Hitachi amp thing. Huge and clunky.

While on the upper echelon of computer speakers, you could have done better for the money. I assume you used the newegg $70 off code? At that price, they're not a bad buy. If you like the aesthetic, then that is certainly a plus.

I'd say the 3 in main drivers will struggle a bit on the midrange and the crossover of the sub may be a bit high, but overall not as bad as other computer speakers.

Just do yourself a favor and get a sound card. They are good enough to benefit a fair amount from one. Pick yourself up a used Xonar DX with the money you saved with the coupon code. You wont regret it.
