Athlon II x4 640 @ 3.52 Ghz

Thread Starter
So I'm new to overclocking and I've managed to get my Athlon II x4 640 up to 3.525 Ghz, and it's stable for a little over 8 hours while running prime95. But in order to do that I had to bump the voltage up to 5.25v (see pics). I've read online about people clocking this processor even higher at a much lower voltage. Does anyone have any suggestions on a better way to accomplish this clock, or even higher preferably, with this rig setup? The only thing I could think to do is maybe lower the Processor Frequency Multiplier and up the FSB, but that would in turn require even more voltage yes? Any input would be appreciated.

Well...I truly hope that is a typo....5.25v? Not a chance.

Im sitting at 3.3 and 1.45v.
Havent bothered to do much to lower the voltage though.
This little sucker is a bit of a lemon anyway.

that voltage is crazy..., i only need 1.33 v for my 3.52 on my 620, should get a quality mobo. Those clocks can be accomplished at much lower voltages on a CHIV.

Just fyi, you're actually running at ~1.5v, not 5.25v. If you were running at 5.25v, I think your computer would actually be on fire haha

I'm sure you mean 1.52v... tongue.gif

But still, 1.5v its a lot. I would just OC all I could at 1.4v and call it a day. If you need .1V to ocer to 3.5 I can say its not worth the risk and heat.

Hmm you got a bad chip i'm afraid, i was able to overclock mine to 3.6 ghz on stock voltage, even in a crappy MoBo (m2n68la+)

maybe if you took the time to stabilize HT, NB, and RAM you would have a better result with lower vcore.

Increase your CPU-NB volts a notch

Drop your HT link a multi to keep it closer to 2000, and manually set your ram to its rated timings and speeds.
