A4-3300m

I was thinking of overclocking this as I've seen a few posts online about others who also did so, however what I've been reading is mostly mixed information about this idea. Some say AMD CPU's are meant to run cool, and there is a recommended core temp (which I cannot find for this CPU).

Anyways I saw some posts on here about using a 1.1 vcore and overclocking to the turbocore of 2.5, but this supposedly produces temps of 70C which someone claimed was a Threshold Event and not safe, what say you?

Also if the GPU is on the CPU isn't it going to heat up just like the CPU? Anyways ahem.... your thoughts? 100C is the max temp, clearly not safe but is 70C? Why the hell would the TurboCore at it's stock voltage (using K10stat) leave the thing running 90C at max load? It makes no sense to me. Anyways yea.... how about if I overlclock to 2.2 GHZ?

Would any of this improve the GPU performance :?

keep it under 55c.. it's similar to an athlon 2

Hello,

Hmm acctualy AMD CPUs can't handle that much heat. I would not worry if it reaches 65°C

You can Download core temps to read your temps. You can Download it Here.

And yes, the GPU will heat the CPU; but very little. Maybe ~1°C

Good luck!

I ran the 2.5GHZ at 1.1 vcore and then ran IntelBurnTest it got to 73C but not higher after 5 runs, your thoughts? It seems stock 1.9GHZ is 60C

May I ask,
what is vcore? and how do i use it,
I tried overclocking to 2.5 ghz with kstat but it freezes soon after,
so I must be doing something wrong
can you give me some advice and maybe your software config?

For some reason I can't get any change to the frequency using B0, even with Boost check-marked it does nothing. So I have to use the P0 and lock it there then it will work. But from what I saw you just set the CPU Voltage to 1.1 and the FID 9 and DID 0 mine will run at that while maintaining a temp of 70-73C but according to my info that's to high as AMD should run cool like 55C. Stock ran 60C at 1.9 frequency soooooooooo I determine you cannot safely overclock this chip unless you get better cooling.

The good news it you can certainly underclock to save battery life, and that's what I'll be using it for instead. I just bought more RAM and a better wifi card instead.

TurboCore I'm told doesn't overclock both cores to 2.5 only 1, then it shuts down the other to offset the heat generated. I tested this idea by setting 1 core to 800 and the other to 2.5, sure enough the temp remained at 65C, clearly if I shut the other down entirely it would be within the stock cooling range.

Laptop cooling is normally less then steller, OCing on them is ill-advised inless you have modified the cooling sollution, or they came equiped with a good one.

Laptop chips are designed to run hotter. I say don't go over 85C at full load.

I overclocked my A6-3400 to 2.6GHz. I did an untested overclock to 3GHz, but if I tested it, the temperatures would go through the roof.
