CS4 detecting my old graphics card? Jagged lines with new 6850?

Okay so here's the deal. Three months back I switched from an ATI 5750 card to a 6850. Haven't used CS4 since the upgrade. However, the first time I open it up the graphics driver freezes and says it shut of graphical enhancements or something.

Well I removed all the ATI catalyst software and rebooted in safe mode and removed the drivers using driver sweeper. Installed updated drivers and still no go on the photoshop. Mind you, photoshop still works, but all the lines are very jagged and seem like there is no anti aliasing going on.

So when I checked under options I notice that it says that the graphics card detected is a ATI 5700 series. My old card!

Thanks in advance for any responses you guys have for me. I will continue looking on google for a fix but have yet to find anything. For some people Enabling OpenGL worked but my OpenGL in photoshop is checked and still no go.

what version of driver sweeper did you use? have you tried newer drivers? have you tried re-installing CS4?

Driver Sweeper is version 3.1.0 and tried the newest drivers available.

My next step will be to install CS4 again. Just wondering if there was a fix before going there.

driver sweeper 3.2.0 is out you could try that. dont know if it would change anything though.

Yeah I saw that on the web. Tried that setting and didn't do anything. Just got back from reinstalling drivers with the newer driver sweeper. Still in photoshop is says my 5750 is detected. lol its not even this state anymore!

Going to try the CS4 re-install. What do I need to do to save my brushes/patterns, ect?

just an actual idea but have you thought of going into your control panel and removing all software that is in relation to your card?? Could also be a bad card you have now, what model number is it? are both XFX cards?? You also may not be getting the new drivers loaded on your system. Have you looked for updated drivers for your new card??

I've gone through the control panel and followed all the steps to a proper driver un installation. Then reinstalled the newest Catalyst Drivers 11.9.

Yes both cards were XFX. I'm probably going to put in a support ticket with them today but I have the feeling the response will be "The issue is with photoshop contact them."
