Browns aren't loud at all if you don't bottom out. Not bottoming out is key to using Cherry MX Brown/Blue mechanicals properly.

If they think that browns are loud, give them a taste of blues.

mx blue switches were 99+ GC. These are MX reds
Reread my post. I checked out Rosewill's entire range of mechanical keyboards when the blues were on promo with a $20 GC.

Don't Reds have around 1/3 the actuation force of a buckling spring?

It's not the keys that are different, it's the switch underneath the keys. Red and black switches are both linear switches, which means it feels like pressing a spring with no other type of feedback (no click, no tactility). The difference is that red switches are much lighter (and thus easier to press) than black switches, but of course it comes down to personal preference as to what you like.

Hope that helps!

The 6Gv2 for $60 is a steal. Buy buy buy.

do an o-ring mod. the sound is probably from the keys bottoming out.

i got mcmastercarr part number 2418T114 and they worked wonders. its a huge improvement in the sound department, and the key doesnt go as past the actuation point. plus it bounces back when it "bottoms out" on the oring, so i type faster. less pointless movement.

my girlfriend complains about my cherry mx blues all the time. if i pick up the browns like i have been promising her and perform the same mod, and she still complains... god help her. lol

ps: i also got the soft-landing pads (firm) from elitekeyboards. i put the landing pads on the key, then slipped the oring on over that, further reducing the key travel past the actuation point, but only negligibly reducing the sound further. though they are a lot of fun to type on now.
