ASUS P8P67 (rev3.0) USB3.0 Problem

Thread Starter
The two USB3.0 Ports in the back of my motherboard cannot recognize my USB3.0 external hard drive. I have tried different versions of BIOS as well as drivers yet the problem remains. I also reinstalled my system.
Finally I called ASUS and had my board RMA, and 2 weeks later I had my motherboard back with the problem remains!mad.gif
I don't wanna spend another $13 to send it back to ASUS as it might turn out to be vain again.
I then tried to update the NEC controler firmware. The memory using rate rose up to 90% and it took hours with the update program just showing "updating, Please wait a moment". Then it showed that it cannot find the USB3.0 controller, which I could see in the device management.

I don't know what to do now. I had intended to disable the front panel USB3.0 ports in the BIOS, however I couldn't find that option.frown.gif

Anyone get ant idea what else I shall try please?

Have you installed the newest Renesas/NEC USB drivers?

Any yellow exclamation marks showing up in device manager?

If he interrupted the firmware update, the controller could be dead.

No yellow marks in the device manager.confused.gif

Everything seems to be working properly in the device manager. Is it possible that the controller is dead when it still appear to be working in the device manager?frown.gif

I just installed windows 8 developer preview, which integrate USB3.0 driver. It works.

However it seems that drivers under windows 7 don't work (I tried more than ten versons including all ones from ASUS website).
