Amd fx-8120 + 990fxa-ud3

Hi Guys,

So I've waited long enough for AMD's BD to come out...problem is it...it is the first iteration of the technology and I'm not really too keen about these as I'd like to upgrade to a stable platform.

So here lies the problem...there's a good bundle on NCIX.ca and they've bundled in my Motherboard and CPU of choice for a BD upgrade from my current rig. BUNDLE DEAL

I mainly use my rig for the following applications/programs/games/tasks:

Adobe Master Suite CS5.0
RTS Games (HOMM-V / HOMM VI)
StarCraft 2 (Purchasing all expansions)
Cinema 4D R12.5
Photo-manipulation
Motion Graphics / Digital Signage

As you can see my sig-rig I am underwater and planning to get my GPU underwater too...

Will I see a significant boost in performance from the A-II to the FX-8120 with my daily work?

What I'd like to do is to just plop in a new CPU from AMD next year with PD and AFAIK the mobo with this bundle can do just that. As for the spare FX-8120 (will be a spare next year with PD) I can just get an AM3+ mobo and plop in that old CPU.

Should I pull the trigger now? Or wait till the prices go down this holiday season?

Cheers,
Cram

The Bulldozer will be step up, because you do a lot of rendering you should see a great decrease in the time it takes.
For me i'd wait for I have a laptop and am nowhere near complete with my pc, but because it looks like you actually use your pc for quite a lot... It's up to you whether you think waiting to see what the increased Stepping will do, or whether it's worth the money now.

Well I did upgrade from an old A64-X2 to an AII-X4 and saw significant decrease in rendering time and massive performance jumps.

Might as well wait for the holiday discounts since I've waited...might as well wait longer ~_______~;;

Just how I'm gonna do things:

I have a decent enough gaming system. Given the things I've read all around, I'm waiting until after Christmas. There will be sales, discounted returns/open boxes, etc.

Might get a great deal. That's how I'm looking at it.

Good luck
