[ZDnet] iPhone 4S vs. Samsung Galaxy SII Drop Test - Page 10

For all you people that say 'protect your investment' and 'it's stupid not to have a case'

I have to disagree as the iPhone does have a smaller, glassy unique feel that gives it the more 'expensive' feel to it. Why would you want to take away from that and have all this rubber everywhere... People simply take care of their products by making sure they don't drop it... and add an accidental warranty on top of that in case the worst were to happen... Also the screen protectors, it takes away the accuracy and resolution (more blurry... you know what I mean)...

When I got my Galaxy S 2, it was so light, that it did really feel cheap... And after reading more and more into this phone, I am loving it even more. I won't ever use a case or screen protector. Apparently this Gorilla Glass is so tough, that having the phone with your keys on it will not scratch it up... And I got a good warranty that covers even loss or anything accidental of my phone...

Apple innovated the smartphone.

Innovation is very american, the Chinese can copy things, but most inventions come from the US.

And Apple is all about customer satisfaction, that is #1. Go to the Apple store with a problem or call their support. I assure you it is some of the best in the business.

I don't like Apple, and I'm by no means a fanboy. I just sold my iPhone 4 for an atrix until the iPhone 5 (assuming they change something besides the camera)

I agree with you though, the 4s is the 4 with a better camera and more power that you can barley notice.
Apple did not "innovate" the smartphone. Blackberries and Windows phones were around long before the iPhone.

Solution: Don't drop the phone OR buy a case. Dunno why this article was needed as it's pretty obvious by itself.
Obviously that's not the case. The SII did not break in the test. Apple's hardware is not all it's cracked up to be.

HAHA you have no idea how many iPhones and iTouches I have seen with massive cracks across their screens.

I droped my Galaxy S on a road and on a rock (unintentionally of course) and only a small scratch on the edge, screen remains completely usable without any damage.

$99 for Applecare+ gives me 2 free repairs for accidental damage. I'm careful with my phone and until I use my second free repair, I'm going caseless.

I've dropped my Droid 2 face down on concrete and other hard surfaces at least 3 times. I usually take very good care of my phones and personal electronics but for whatever reason this time I haven't been as lucky. Thankfully the glass is intact. It also doesn't feel cheap and is heavier than the iPhone 4.

btw: The video was done by squaretrade. A company who sells insurance on electronics.
