Headphones for music - Budget around 300$

Hey there. This is the first time I'm buying headphones and I would like to get somekind of feedback on which headphones I should try before making purchases. I've a Beresford Caiman DAC that has a headphone amplifier in it, I bought it for my Genelec monitors but now I'm thinking that I should get a pair of headphones as I've a 300$ amplifier already, lol. The headphones would mainly be used in gaming and music. I listen to dubstep and death metal mostly so bass would be great, metal I can listen through my beloved Genelecs <3

Any suggestions 6.35mm connector would be a big plus too.

Edit: This is one place I will be looking the headphones from: http://www.thomann.de/

if you like gaming too look into the astro a40's they are really nice quality headphones you can buy a mixamp, you can put custom speaker tags in and you can put in and take out a mic

In that range I say get two sets one closed one open, and my vote goes to the two that I own Ath-M50 and HD 555 with the foam mod. Unfortunately the store only carries the M50 but their stock is quite fantastic to tell you the truth. I think for the price the M50's are godly here in the states but I know the prices can vary greatly in other parts of the world so I'm not so sure they'll be that great for you. IF I had to choose from that site I would probably go ATH-M50 or Beyer DT 990 PRO for a nice pair of headphones, but seeing as the M50's are more expensive I would lean on the DT 990's, considering If they weren't $130+ more expensive than my M50's when I bought mine I would've opted for the DT's .

Hey, fellow metalhead here. You should look into Ultrasone headphones. They have the speed and bass required for metal, and they are great electonica headphones too.
Don't bother with Sennheiser, they are too 'laid-back' for metal. And don't bother with Audio Technica's AD series either, they have no bass at all.
Their open headphones are more suited for metal and the closed for electronica, but thats not to say the open are bad for electronica or vice versa. I would look for the 2400s, 2500s, or the 750s in that price range.

No.

For $300, a pair of AD900's, used AD1000's, or DT990's would work.

Its a good deal until you realize they need a $300+ amp to drive them, the new he-3s though, they are dynamic headphones. I haven't seen much info on them yet though.
