Seagate 1.5TB or WDC Black 1TB? - Page 2

I would go with nothing with the crazy prices right now unless you REALLY need it now.

I bought 2 Seagate 1.5TB drives, they died within 6 months, and after I RMA'd them they changed the warranty to 30 days, they died a couple of months after the RMA and I was completely screwed.

They changed the warranty to 30 days ? Seriously ? never heard that happen.

@ontopic: I would definetly go for the WD BLACK CAVIAR. Best HDD on the market.

Samsung F3 is the best price/performance drive out there. Used a few on multiple builds for friends and none of them have failed so far.

No, F3 is dated. That title belongs to Hitachi's 7K1000.D now.

My Hitachi 7K3000 1.5Tb is built using the WDC Black controller board. Same controller, same cache, same speed, less price.

Sent from my AT&T Samsung Galaxy S2 using Tapatalk.

Not sure what happened here...but the warranty suppose to carry over

Anyway...as a personal Seagate drive user...I would hit up the Western Digital drives since Seagate cut their warranty longevity. That's unless you're interested in the XT line of drives...but that's extreme storage territory.

EDIT: Wow...the prices have skyrocketed after that whole flood situation.

As a user of both companies, get the one that performs the best and costs cheaper, look up benchmarks to get an idea of the speeds. Also it doesn't matter who makes your drive as they they can die at any given time, it's always smart to have more than one backup. In the past 10 years I've had 4 WD drives and one seagate drives fail on me and I still continue to buy from both companies.
