Need help!

Hi!

About 3-4 weeks ago i purchased a new computer,(all specs below are brand new) when i was about to seat the cpu i removed the plastic cap cover but dropped it and bent a few pins! i then carefully did my best to bend them back. ( will post pic of how it looked before i seated the cpu.) to me it looked good but when i was finished mounting everything and tried to start it i got FF post error and cpu error led lighted up. decided not to try and bend anymore and risk my cpu as well.

So i ordered a new rampage III black edition.
So when i get home on Saturday im will try with the new mobo.

Here is what worries me, a friend told me that maybe i could have damaged the cpu in the process as well.
What do you guys think? I mean the pins looked alligned before i seated the cpu, i just hope it was bad contact that made the computer not posting.

I have no real experience in building computers, and i saved a long time and worked my ass of to afford all the parts, and i can´t afford another 990X. i know i am to make this my first "real" build and try build it myself,... but it is what it is!

SO is my cpu in danger of being damaged or could i relax

would appreciate any help, or answears in this matter.

sorry for bad iphone pics!

Man, that certainly was the worst possible chip to drop, But as long as the pins all appear fine and it seated without much force it should be ok. I don't see how dropping it would cause damage aside from bending pins. Though there is the of chance that the chip was DOA before you dropped it. if possible I would make it look good and RMA it.

No, i didnt drop the 990x, i dropped the cap that covered the socket, sorry if i explained badly i have already sent back the motherboard, but you all know black edition was a limited edition, and only place i could find one was in Finland, and they told me they wanted to check the board before they sent a new one... told em i couldn`t whait so i ordered another one... and then i sent the other one back... did this altso because there was only i few left and didnt wanna risk it getting out of stock
