That's, at best, a mediocre PSU. I would be hard pressed to say that you're pushing its limit of even deliverable wattage, since the 1050 model can at least (lol) handle 550w, with okay voltages. I'm 50/50 on calling the PSU the problem. Can you borrow one from someone else to be sure?

Another thing. NO ONE ON SANDY BRIDGE GOES ABOVE 100BLCK. Keep it at 100. If you raise the block, you will take your memory speed past it's rated speed and that will fail you real quick.

Not just the memory, but pretty much everything else driven by the clock generator. Which means potential damage to PCIe cards and such.

Raising the vcore can be dangerous if one isn't careful, but to have that high of an overclock, I think it would be necessary.

To start over clocking, set everything back to default. Disable SpeedStep (unless you are trying to save electricity ), and just raise the ratio by one. Then test the system for stability like that. Then raise the ration by another one. That's a good way to get started, lots of other fancy things after that.
102.5 is still in the safe zone, but higher would be a bit to dangerous
you can run it at 103.5 i think
a dutch hardware site (Hardware.info) tested it with a higher bclk (was around 103) and it just worked

also the vcore is a tat to low

Plenty of people use higher BLK's. They just take their RAM speed down a notch or two.

This, I agree with. But if you tweak everything accordingly, you run a less of a chance of doing so.

@OP - You can raise BLK, but it is mainly for people who want to obtain the highest OC possible with their chip for benching purposes and or folding.

Example - I'm OC'd at 4.7Ghz, and I REALLY want 4.8, but don't like the vcore for it, so I'd bump up my BLK to achieve 4.8 with having to raise the multiplier.

BLK does get pretty messy after 105 or so, so I don't recommend it unless you just wanting the best out of your chip and have money to throw on parts if that's the case. Lol

If your PSU was the DiabloTek one someone linked into this thread, if your going to spend this much money on a rig, I highly suggest a 650 SeaSonic/Corsair branded PSU, their cheap, and very efficient. Plus you can add a second card for Cfx and still be okay.

Get a new power supply. Diablotek makes lower end stuff which can cause your computer to black out like that.

Also, memory and driver issues usually cause BSODs. Black outs are usually caused by too little voltage or a bad power supply.

The PSU could be the problem because of OOS voltage and overspec'd wattage. I'd be willing to say that PSU could handly no more than half of its labeled wattage, not even 300W safely in the worst of cases. The load you're system would be in would be 300-350W, when overclocked, so it would make sense in explaining the lack of a BSOD.

***. You'd expect it to at least handle HALF the load! on another note, i'm back to stock. now do i need to disable speedstep before running prime95? also i noticed everybody picked the asus, reasons?

Judging on the 1050w review, I'd be hard-pressed to say it can. Many chose the Asus, I'm assuming, because of its non-reference cooler, which will likely handle better overclocks.
