[GIZ] iPhone vs Android: Who Aged Better? - Page 20

People keep on forgetting it seems that Android is not a phone its an OS. biggrin.gif If I purchase a phone I want something unique. Not something that has been just repackaged into a hundred different plastic rectangles. Fact not Flame. Cheers! biggrin.gif

Yes, but you pay the price of having ads in your apps (sometimes). Sometimes certain games are worth having a paid-for version, vs. non-paid-for. Take Words with Friends for example. I'd take a paid-for/ad-free version over a free/ad-after-every-move version any day.

Having that option on Android is a plus though. If you can look past the ads you get a free game, if you don't like the ads you get the ad free version.

What does that even mean?

The hardware is unique, the software can be unique based on the manufacturer. I'm sure most people don't care that the PC they build doesn't come with their own special version of Windows.

Posts like these are what I'm talking about. Also, for the record my GF's 4S went 6 hours and 23 minutes of usage, 1 day 18 hours of standby. This was texting all day, pandora, and web browsing over 3G as well. Considering my Fascinate dies with 3 hours of browsing over WiFi, I'd say that's excellent battery life.

My battery life is pretty decent, if I go 8-10 hours of standby I'm at about 75%, I played games on it for about 4 hours and still had 50%.

The battery isn't amazing, but I see no issue with it as long as I charge it each night while I sleep.

iOS 5 has a few improvements like cloud and the notification center (and Siri for the 4S), nothing huge but it's welcomed. I believe it's intentional that iOS doesn't change drastically, and that's likely because they want people to remain familiar with it. Besides, it seems popular enough, if it's not broken then don't fix it. I don't spend that much time on my phone now I'm not as passionate about it as a lot I you guys, but I would at least like to see more customization on iOS, so I may end up jailbreaking once an untethered 5.1 comes out.

For me modifying an OS is just a fun thing to do but on a phone I could care less. smile.gif
