An i3-330UM's Super Pi 1M time is like 35 seconds. An e2180 @ 3 GHz should easily do it in under 20 seconds.

I'd like to see some screenshots of your i3-330UM beating your E2180 in Super Pi.
Not a problem, but I'm at work and will have to post it later this weekend. To clarify confusion about what you probably read when you looked up superpi times for a 330UM, my asus notebook operates it at 1.6GHz, not the stock 1.2GHz. 400MHz difference, might not seem like a huge deal, but still 25% faster. But if memory serves, I don't think I ever achieved a 1M superpi time as slow as 35 seconds, even at stock. Also if memory serves, I don't think I ever got a 20s superpi time with my e2180. Regardless, moral of story is synthetics are not good indicators, and the actual performance of my 2180 exceeds the actual performance of the 330um, whereas benchmarks show the opposite.

^^^ That's $180 of pure performance. Why anyone would want to mess with anything else is beyond me... rolleyes.gif

What kind of Kool-Aid are they serving at AMD?

Umm...people who still don't think $180 is worth it when they can get all the performance they need for less? Again, the OCN-esque mentality where too much is still not enough. Sorry, sometimes enough is enough, and more is a waste of money. And not everyone lives near a Micro Center to benefit from the in-store pricing.

Look, I'm not saying that people shouldn't go out and get a 2500k if they want one, and I'm not saying BD is an equivalent substitute for a 2500k or 2600k on a 1-to-1 basis. All I'm saying is all of the mindless griping people have spouted--before and after release--is pointless when it's clear that BD still delivers the performance people need and then some, and is at a reasonable price point.

And I honestly have yet to see either an unbiased or even-field comparison between BD and a PhII CPU where the BD doesn't either equal or pull ahead of the PhII in real-world applications.

Most people that are going to buy this chip are going to be gamers .

you gotta be kidding me doh.gif those new chips aren't good for ANYTHING ..and the sad part is..they had 2 years to come up with them..."oh,it's the software's fault" "oh,it's windows fault" ..seems to me they're playing a blame game..well..i know where the blame belongs..as i'm certain a lot of other people do ,too "oh the software's just not ready for our chip" no..the chips suck..plain and simple..i'm over it..i'll get an amd something or other..when they quit trying to decieve the people..for now..i'll be liquidating all things AMD

What is mindless about CPU Performance For The Money? This has been AMD's claim to fame for years. rolleyes.gif

AGAIN 2500K FOR $180 - YOU CAN'T BEAT THAT

If you want to waste your money on an inferior product, that's up to you. For anyone with BASIC REASONING SKILLS, 2500K.

Case Closed, End Of Story, Good Night.

So to clarify, if a CPU provided you all the CPU performance you needed for $130, you'd still rather go off and spend $180-220 instead (assuming no micro center close by)? Makes perfect sense. rolleyes.gif

Yes - For No Other Fact Then It Will Be A Viable CPU LONGER!

What's another $50 on a PC Build? NOTHING - THAT'S ONE TANK OF GAS FOR MOST PEOPLE.

But gas gets me somewhere. Having an extra--let's say even--30% of CPU power sitting around that I'll never utilize--that gets me nowhere.

I just wish to god these thingscould beat my phenom in dual/tri gpu situations. Then I will definately pick it up. Doesntlook like that will be the case thoug, so now Im forced to dump my crosshair V(much love to the crosshair for the tremendous(to me)phenom overclock) and my phenom and try and "afford" the highest end intel board with a 2600k.

Looks like 3x 7970's arent in my books... frown.gif
