[Official] Playstation VITA Thread. - Page 16

Hey guys, I got to play Vita for about 40 minutes this time on a fresh display unit ( was first to play ! ). The thing is just as good as the test unit I got to try in IL awhile back, except this time I got to try many games and really get to play with it.

The System:
First thing you will notice is how light and thin the thing is. I know we've all read it's light a hundred times but believe me it's lighter than you would think. The OLED screen looks really amazing, and for games that have dark rooms like Uncharted you don't have to worry about poor contrast ratios making things too dark. The analogs feel really nice, and really tiny. The buttons also are nice and tiny, but not too tiny that it becomes a problem ( I'm a big guy ). The unit is really almost perfectly designed at least by my first impressions of the final unit. This thing is truly a tech nuts wet dream.

The games:

Uncharted - First off I will say the game looks fantastic. I was worried about the jaggies after reading some comments, but after playing it the jaggies are really only noticeable on 2 specific things, fire and shadows. That said, the characters have maybe about 10% more jaggies than RE:R characters. Since RE:R is the best looking game on the 3DS I will compare the two ( Yeah I know the rules but I don't think this is bad ). RE:R is slightly less jaggy over all, but the amount of detail, colors, and pixel count in RE:R is far lower. So I will just say if you compare the two they both have some advantages and disadvantages.

Tennis - As everyone said this is pretty much the best looking game at launch. If you were a doubter of the Vita's power look no further. It looks better than any PS3 game I've seen at least on the Vita's 5 inch screen. Seriously if you haven't played this game yet and doubt PS3 quality graphics look no further, its already here, and on a first gen title. It looks absolutely gorgeous. As far as the game play goes, it's tennis, and it seems fun... but I don't have more to add than that.

Fifa - I would say this is the second best looking game on the system so far. I barely played it, but it looks almost as good as Tennis. I'm sure soccer ( football ) fans will love this version.

Wipeout - I've stated before that I really didn't like Wipeout HD on PS3. I don't know what it was but when I played one track on Vita I found it to be quite a bit more fun than playing it on PS3. Maybe it's because games like Wipeout are more appealing on a portable, or maybe because Wipeout 2048 has better pacing than Wipeout HD. It seemed like there were much more power ups and speed up spots. For people on the fence about it I think it looks pretty solid. Controls are fine too.

Little Deviants - Looks like a fun mini-game sort of thing. Basically think of it as a tech demo for the Vita. Probably will get old fast, but the colors in the game look exceptional on the screen.

Gravity Rush - Only loaded it up for a second, just to see how it looked. Looked pretty as expected. The art style is awesome, but you all already know this. This game is becoming more appealing to me now.

I think that's all I tried. Didn't really play with the OS or any other features since the demo unit either didn't have them or I forgot how to find them.

Bottom line, this thing will exceed almost everyones expectations and make you go like this : :O!!!! By far the best looking handheld on the market, and I think it will be the best handheld on the market as well. That last part is my opinion deal with it.

Sorry if the pics aren't very good, crappy cell phone and glare ect:

So how many little kids did you have to beat away to get to play with it for 40 minutes? tongue.gif

Seriously, the Vita keeps looking awesome as always. That OLED screen looks great compared to the 3DS. If only I had money sitting around to get one... rolleyes.gif

One kid came in at the end and played it, but I didn't have to beat anyone up to play this time.

Sony just confirmed that download games will be $5-10 cheaper if you download from PSN. Glad they carried that over from Japan.

Took some new pictures today from a different game stop. VERY close up blown up screens to show the some what poor AA on Uncharted. Sorry for crappy cell pics again but to show you that until you blow them up the jaggies aren't bad. That excludes the terrible looking fire and shadows.
