Need new PSU

Thread Starter
I have a 620W power supply at the moment, and for a while, it did just fine. Then I got a new graphics card, and it isn't able to properly power it. I want to buy a new one now. Basically I need one at about $200, but will go up to $250. It needs to be reliable, this is number one. secondly, I need wattage, preferably something in the 1000W range. I also want it to be modular, spare cables are a B****. Any recommendations? I had this in mind, tell me what you think.

Your 620w is a fantastic unit and should handle CF 6850 with no problems, a single card will be a piece of cake lol

What problems are you exactly having?

That's what I thought aswell, I'm not sure why it's not powering it enough, but that's the problem. It had constant crashing problems, and I thought it was a faulty card, but When I tested out a different (more powerful) PSU, it worked perfectly. I was told that the problem was that I had 4 hard drives, and the card is Factory OC'd, thus eating too much power along with all the other components,

If you do need a psu, I recommend http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139016 750W

Its $170, $10 more for 100W (over the AX650)

Something else is wrong, maybe some poor connectors or the PSU is faulty, your system is pulling less than 450W at full load, buying a 200$/1000W for it would be wasteful and also rather stupid..

corsair units in my experience are work great, and should power you fine even if you upgrade, you could just have a faulty psu, i have had a few die on me and they tend to act finicky at least for me right before failure. Needless to say if you have to get a new one Id go with the one linked above for some expandability and since I have never had an issue out of any of the unit I bought from Corsair
