underclocking a bulldozer?

Thread Starter
I'm trying to find a low power processor for various applications and I was considering a BD that's under clocked. Anyone have any numbers? IE freq, voltage

Thanks

I don't think you would want a Bulldozer, it's heavy on power consumption and the performance currently is not up to anything you would like.

Isn't there someone out there wondering how low they can get that voltage on the zambezi they already own. My thoughts are that if it can over lock well, i t should be able to maintain relitivly high freqs with low power

Those thoughts right now appear to be wrong. BD is a power hog. Honestly I would go with and underclocked AthlonII or one of the 65Watt. I also think everyone with zambezi is more interested in OCing to get the most performance they can out of it.

Outside of that I'd be looking to the corei3 210xT which is a 35Watt CPU.

I want the AES support so I was looking at the i5-2500T. Just wanted to see my options. I'm still interested in seeing those numbers, I may end up getting a Zambezi for gaming. If I ever do get one I guess I'll find out then...

Ive been fiddling with my 8120.

Only had it for 24 hours, so the spreadsheet will be slowly filling itself out with more details.

Ive been able to boot at 3.1ghz down to 1.1625v, im sure i can get lower.
My current project is overclocking @ 1.2v. Up to 3.5 and climbing.

It feels good to own a 980x after seeing Bulldozer die.
Did you upgrade from an older chipset to that 990FX board because of the hype or because it was 'the latest in AMD technology'?

Although, in their defense, it was made mainly for server platform using Windows 8's OS scheduler for their new 'innovative' architecture, as meager as it sounds.

They're working on a B3 stepping but god knows how much performance gain that could bring.

To OP: The i5-2500T the most solid low power CPU for desktop (45W quad core, AMD can't compete with that)

You better be careful underclocking a processor as slow as buldozer,
You might start un-computing data...

Seriously though
What kind of perfomance are you after?
a sandy bridge celleron may work well.
