Does it matter what SATA cable you use for an optical drive?

First, I'm sorry if this is the wrong place for this thread (Couldn't find anything that looked better).

Second, does it matter if I use a SATA 3 or SATA 2 cable for a blu ray drive?

No. A SATA cable is a SATA cable.

There's (currently) no such thing as a different grade/version/definition of SATA cable.

sata1 doenst have the locking clips, but the connections are exactly the same

sata2 and sata1
