So yes, he's actually correct.

people will say 570 in sli will blow 580 away but when you sli 580 lol also people will say that when you OC the 570 you get close to 580 clocks... but you also have to remember you can OC the 580 way past what the 570 is even if its OCed.

If you have the money go for the best... if your tight on money consider the 570

Not really a surprise is it? 2 cards of 1 step down beat the current card? and 2 cards of the top card beat 2 cards of the one below.

I have one, and have not regretted it one second.
My only regret is that I didn't spend extra to get one with non-reference cooling.
(either msi twinfrozr or Asus directCU)

Well it'll be easier for you to watercool in the future though
Saying that, very impressed with the DirectCU ii cooler.

Chill out man, everyone is well within there rights to buy a 580, and they are without question significantly better than a 570.

Value for money, a 480 beats a 570.. so your argument is invalid.

I got myself two twin frozr III 6950s... i'm kinda wishing i had waited another 2 - 3 weeks and grabbed two 580s.... they just seem to sound worth it lol not saying that 6950s are short of anything spectacular but for some reason the 580s seem to sound like there worth the extra cost

You have no idea how much I paid for mine either.

Fact is, a 580 is a better card than a 570. I think that's pretty well obvious. It's up to the user to decide if the extra cost is worth it to them, to have the best of the best card out there. The 570 is a great card too, and yes...it can match a STOCK 580 after overclocking. It'll NEVER match an overclocked 580 though.

I've always gotten the fastest single GPU setup I can afford, never had a problem yet.

Oh yeah, I only paid $250 for my card.....almost 8 months ago. So your price / performance argument is invalid as well (assuming the above was an attack at me personally). Not only that, there's always deals out there that can be had, if one takes the time to look.

I know of somebody that came from two 6970's into two 580's. I haven't stopped hearing about his new cards honestly. He made the switch for basically free though.
