Also: I love how everyone's quoting the same 3 sources as their "factual" evidences.
I love how you discard them by that reasoning. You probably don't realise it, but the same arguments have been brought up multiple times in this thread by different people. I don't feel like repeating myself over and over again, so a link to a concise and well referenced website is entirely acceptable.

I hope you all realize that graphs of temperature are only a very small part of the research done to understand why our Earth's climate is changing. It is merely an observation, a phenomenon that can't be manipulated or tested. This change in global temperature (most prevalent in the oceans) lead to an explosion in research of the greenhouse effect (particularly with the heat trapping capacity of various gases), of the geohistorical record of climate variation through various means (i.e. Ice core samples, stratification analysis, and fossil record analysis), and of course, how the two may or may nor implicate humans in the accelerated warming process. The overwhelming majority of credible studies to this point (especially in the last decade) have pointed to a rate increase in both greenhouse gas concentrations and global average temperature not observed before in the record we have been able to construct via models. The greenhouse gases have easily been mathematically accounted for by the massive collection of trapped carbon (fossil fuels) that was 'locked away' slowly for millions of years suddenly released back into the carbon cycles , the span of 150 years completely overwhelming the carrying capacity of the world's largest carbon sink we know as the oceans. In the picture of geological time, this is an incredibly short period of time and therefore much more of a significant event than many realize. Where the disconnect seems to stem from is the extrapolation from a massive release of carbon into a cycle that has been normalized for millions of years and the fact that we are currently experiencing accelerating warming global average temperatures (again, most evident the oceans). According to models of the solar trapping capacity of greenhouse gases (especially carbon dioxide as it is the most plentiful) in accordance with the historical models and current recorded trends, most studies have concluded with statistically significant results supporting the correlation of greenhouse gas emissions and rapidly increasing average temperature beyond patterns in observed feedback mechanisms. That, in layman's terms is the 'conspiracy theory' some of you are trying to argue against.

p.s. My 580 should be back tomorrow ... Rejoice!

Can you read? Weather and climate are completely different. Weather is a short term condition dependent on many variables. These variables do not affect the average global temperature, which is climate. A change in weather of 5 degrees Celsius isn't much. A change in climate (an average change) of 5 degrees, on the other hand, is the difference between a tonne of ice and a tonne of water.

I've said this a loytof times and havent ever really heard anyone else confront it. I think global warming is real, but i dont think it has anything to do with greenhouse gasses. Think about it: every time you turn on your computer, heat. Every time you start your car, heat. Coal fired power plants, lots of heat. And it all has to go somehere doesnt it?
