As blameless said earlier (which is basically common knowledge on how they study climate patterns), you can take samples from ice and soil. They cannot see 4.5 billions years into the past, but we can see far back enough to know where the train supposed to be headed (but human involvement is speeding up this process, or at least that is what the debate is over).

You're comparing global warming to the idea of the earth being flat? If you have a problem with the science, show better science, don't try to weasel your way out of it with a strawman argument.

Ehhh...

I don't know either way, people produce these reports and studies for both sides of the argument, that contradict each other.

The only thing I really believe is that the earth warms and cools naturally over thousands of years, and at the current point in time, the temperature is on a natural rise.

Ive seen so many graphs and tables and 'evidence' either way, im over it.... I dont care anymore...

Also what I do know is that governments and institutions are cashing in on this, whether that means they are behind false scare mongering, i don't know.

I think there needs to be an International Climate Change Institute, where scientists can go, show there studies and finding and have them properly scrutinised by others in the community.

Having these random studies popping up here there and everywhere does not prove or falsify this topic for me.

No one debates the existence of global warming, except idiots and conservative talk show hosts (well I guess the former covers the latter). What's debated is the cause... and even then 80% of the scientific community is convinced it's anthropogenic greenhouse gases.

I'm not comparing global warming to anything. I was comparing the cause. Do I believe there is global warming? Of course. What I don't believe is that humanity is the cause of it.

People don't understand that mother Earth has seasons too. It's warmer now, whoopeedo, gets colder 5 or 10 years later then they're going to call it global cooling because the globe has been warming so long.

Don't live in someone else's results, go and discover your own, that's what being free is all about.

For those doubting that domesticated animals are contributing to green house gas emissions just do a simple google search and then pick your favorite result. For all the wasted money we spend on frivolous research people have actually measured this "crap" and compiled the results. I do not doubt that we are seeing some increase in global temperature. The cause and the response are what is important to me. Alarmist reactions are certainly not going to be productive in the long run.

ok there is this one guy who spent thousands of dollars for a presentation used to convince a bunch of college students among others and come to find out his hands are in the pot. Pot of what? Pot of companies in the business of the green movement. Ha! I would not be surprised if Solyndra is one of them. same guy that said their parents are wrong and should not be believed!

Seriouly, 30 or so years ago these same scientists were crying global cooling. Well, it seems they are wrong since they have change their tune.

i wonder how many of these weather stations are located in the vast area of water that occupies -what? - 70% of the earth?

i've seen some of these so called stations near heat emanating exhaust vents. lol.

for all you supporting this theory - can you honestly say you will not fill up your tank starting today? until then . . .

I don't get why it's so hard to understand. One of the basic characteristics of co2 molecules is that they absorb infrared radiation, heat. We've been pumping tonnes of it into the atmosphere on top of the natural cycle, orbital factors are not in play and won't be for thousands of years to come and there has been no increase in TSI on top of the sun's normal 11 year cycle for the last 40 years. Natural climate change occurs due to triggers such as orbital variations or an increase in solar radiation which then causes positive feedback effects such as the release of more co2 and other greenhouse gases from natural deposits.
Today we have a clearly established warming trend yet the usual natural triggers are absent. Though he have been pumping boatloads of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere on top of the natural cycle, enough to trigger positive feedback effects.

But no as soon as science conflicts with someone's religious or political ideology, science is corrupt. Though those same people have no problem with any other scientific field which aren't so politically controversial.

This little myth always comes up. Global cooling was a minority opinion which was overrepresented in the (as usual) credulous media. A survey of climate paper from that era showed that even then a large number of scientists were predicting global warming.

Edit: Also just because scientists were wrong once doesn't mean they're ALWAYS wrong.
