The pro of consoles is that developers can ignore the API and program directly to metal. Both consoles are capable of tessellation(PS3 has Polymorph; 360 has a dedicated tessellation engine). We've seen a few examples of tess. on 360 despite having an API that's not capable(Dx9c). That's because that code is probably a lower level than the API is.
That's right but that's a different type of tessellation. However, the Direct x11 API supports Direct3D11, SM 5.0, Multi-threaded support,Hardware tessellation and DirectCompute.
