Need clip in CPU cooler for OC (possible or not)

Thread Starter
Hello
I'm looking for a Clip in CPU cooler (my specs are in my sig) I don't care if it's expensive I just wanted to know if there is a high quality CPU cooler that will give me safe temps when overclocking my i7 2006k to around 4.6 - 4.8ghz.

Thanks

I don't follow. What exactly is a 'clip in' CPU cooler?

Allariea - join the club! Not the looking for a cooler club, but the Thermaltake club!! I don't have an answer for a good air cooler, but if you're looking for water the Koolance CPU cooler is perfect IMO.

The ones with the push pins like a stock intel cooler. Why do you need it to be push pins?

I know right? A terrible and aggravating design. Are there even aftermarket coolers that use the same design?

Yea, the ones with the push pins. I herd you can get after market ones that were half decent, but I could not find any.

the reason I wanted one like this is because I don't want to have to take my PC apart again. I'm to worried about breaking somthing lol. I don't trust myself.

If anybody does know of one, let me know.

EDIT:

Thanks, Ill look into it. I love my level 10 GT
I don't mind Air or Water, I would prefer Air but.....if the worst comes to the worst ill go with water.

old school scythe coolers use those types. my 1st gen infinity uses them and it'll still cool down an i7 w/o problems

with the infinity you'll have to buy new clips to make it compatible with 1155/6 the clips are on newegg for $12

As far as I know, all aftermarket coolers use their own bracket retention and anchor plate designs because the push-pin design is so crappy.

I was worried I'd screw something up with my Silver Arrow (which is freaking huge!) so I found a guide on YouTube and had an experienced friend on standby in case I screwed up.

Do you homework and have someone around who's done it before and you'll be alright.

I've looked around and I can't find any 1155 clips for the Infinity. I reckon that Allariea will need to find a cooler produced when SB was out, though the odds of finding a push-pin design aftermarket cooler for 1155 are slim.

I think the coolermaster hyper tx3 uses pushpins.
