Optimal mouse sensitivity in games - Page 2

All preference. I play with an 1800DPI Deathadder, and at 1800dpi, it feels perfect to me. I've never been the crazy anal writing down sensitivities type. I play to have fun, if I die, I die.

You will die a lot miss a lot of kills and lose a lot. Though as you get used to it you will find that you are a lot better then you were before.

Put it this way if you are playing Counter strike and need to do a 180 turn on 400 DPI it will take a good 5-10cm of hand movements where as for me on 6400 DPI it will be under 1mm. By the time you see me on 400 DPI my 6400 DPI would have killed you before you can even aim me. "i dont play CS much im not really that good lol but thats my point with higher DPI you can react a lot faster."

Also the type of game you play makes a difrince i play a lot of HoN so the faster the mouse is the faster i can use spells. With FPS a little slower is fine though i still like it as fast as it can go.

IMPORTANT NOTE. if you play on high DPI like 6400 make sure u have a good mouse pad. I never believed how important a mouse pad was. I have the vespula it has 2 sides speed and control. there a lot different. Belive it or not on speed its hard 2 close even my browser but on control i can move pixel by pixel.

Faster is better

Lol

Its impossible to play at 6400 dpi

very few mouse have more than 5600 max dpi lol

Also, looking at your specs. You only have a diamond back which tops out at 1800dpi

I myself use logitech g9x that have 5600dpi and the maximum useable for games are 2000. Anything higher than that would be way too fast unless you play on 2560x1600

For me the best dpi is 1900

I use 1800 and take about 40cm for a 180... just feels good
post #14 of 33
Lol at the crazy low sens and crazy high sens guys. Absolutely ridiculous. 6400dpi? 40cm to do a 180? Christ...

I always leave my DPI on 1,600 on my Kone[+] and I change the sensitivity around so I can do a 180 degree turn with a swipe of my hand.

imo depends on ur position and stuff u need to do and also on the maps u play...especially in FPS.. You wouldn't wanna miss out on doing quick turns with a ultra low sens and u wouldn't want to be missing long range shots or let opponent make you miss shots by his dodging on a high sens.

I prefer to go to a sensitivity low enough where I can do a quick 180 and also hit long range targets pretty well.

A lot depends on game. In some 20 cm/360° is fine and in others 80 cm/360° is alright. I'm low sensitivity fan but at some point setting it lower isn't helping anymore. It's good to be able to do 360° on your mousepad. Sensitivity lower than that will give you some trouble with 180° turning from the center of mousepad.

It's true but there's nothing wrong in experimenting. You should try different settings. Extreme is subjective, eg. limiting mousepad size described above.

Usually this is good:

You shouldn't worry about anything exact. Set it so you can do a 180 comfortably (wrist and a little arm movement) and you'll be fine in any situation. I personally 180 in 7-10 inches which is just a single flick of my wrist. I used accel or higher senstivity when I played a deathmatch type game such as quake.

You will have to play around with different options to find your comfort zone. I am a proponent of high dpi but it is not for everyone as it is a lot more sensitive to you moving the moise even slightly.

Hello everyone,

Just passing by to give you my opinion... I think the balanced sensitivity is the one, where you put your mouse on the left side of mousepad and go straight to the right side, and then u can decide wich sens is better for you (if you want to do a 180, 360 or whatever position) (i'm testing DABE on a QCK, 900 dpi\\cpi , 6/11 win and 2 or 2.2 on cs.s for ex., because i like to have some medium sens. and also can perform a 360 on my pad...) (i don't get it, how can people play cs.s with for ex. 1 sens and 400 dpi... dam they got to have their arms like popeye for making fast swypes.... i know it's practice but for me is impossible )
I tryed so many dpi on different mices, but from my experience, not much i must say,i prefer the ones who give me 800\\900 dpi for desktop and especially gaming... (i dont switch dpi in th middle of game...)
So my opinion is no matter the dpi\\cpi you use, the important thing is to feel you have the power and control over your mouse...
But this is my opinion....

I have a 1600dpi Mouse,
and it takes me 4cm to make a 360 turn, and i used to play competitive cs source.

In my opinion, a high DPI with low sensitivity is better then low DPI with high sens.
