Fanboyism shall be ignored. I'm neutral in the Apple vs Android argument. Both have their own pros and cons.

Notes:
1) first time smartphone user, although have some experience with ios
2) live in south east Asia, nexus maybe available at retail price even earlier than the iphone

Basically I've decided it's about time to move on from my Nokia generic. Having a difficult decision here.

I'll almost never live with an iphone because of its limits. No flash, no SD, everything goes through iTunes. I just don't think it will work out for me in the long run. However it seems to me that apple is still winning in the os department. I've witnessed a galaxy s I froze like 3 times in a row when my coworker tries to show me a game. Don't know how much it's change from then on though. Android just don't seem as optimized and as smooth is all I'm saying.

That said. This galaxy nexus that is coming out ALSO has no SD, but it does have everything else. Camera looks promising enough. Dont know about baattery life though. The screen seems to be amazing too, but....

GOD I REALLY WANT A RECTANGULAR PHONE!! LOL

Yes, my ideal phone would be a phone in a rectangular shape with a FLAT bottom. The new Nexus is QUITE far away from this.

That gave me the idea of buying 4s and trade for sIII when it's available, taking advantage of the resale-ability. However just because sII is rectangular doesn't mean III will also be, especially after all these lawsuits. It will also be a long wait. Is there even a planned season for its release yet?

So, should I:

1) get nexus when it's out, because we simply know nothing about gsIII now, and will be a long wait

2) get iPhone 4s and later into gs III

3) just wait for something even better

Simply getting the GS II is not an option. Its getting quite old now. I'll be joining a data plan for the first time and will likely get the phone alone with the plan anyway, so getting the SII now just dont seem to be an economical choice.

I'm pretty sure it's still the fastest/nicest phone on the market right now. I agree about the form factor, I really like the iPhone 4 and SGII style over the Nexus. And yes, the SIII will most likely be a long wait. It really depends how long you can tough it out with your current phone

I know its still the best. But i also take into account that its been around for quite a while already. Something else should be coming out. Its better to get new products, provided that they are better than current bests, when there is a *universal* data plan for all these top-of-line phones.

For example, the GS II was released somewhere in May or June here, and the price of that data plan stayed the same through out this entire time. If I were to go for the GS II right now, I've technically just lost ~5 months of "imaginery enjoyment," just because I didnt get the product right from the start. When it finally rotates out, I'll also feel like my phone "stayed in the game" for a shorter time than it actually has.

Getting the nexus right after it comes out, if I do, will prevent this.

When Nexus come out, the price of its plan will be EXACTLY the same as the GS II anyway, and that price will remain for all these phones. The price never changes, only models of phones stepping down when their latest model of that series comes on board. This also indicate that I should not get the GS II. Its simply a wrong decision at this point in time with one exception: Nexus is a big disappointment. Even if it is, I'll still refuse to get the GS II because of the first reason mentioned

So no, despite its godly rectangular look I like so much, I really don't want to invest into the SG II. From what we know about the Nexus until this moment, it seems like the SG II is only better than the Nexus in its design.
