Also when you apply thermal grease use just a small, pea sized amount. Place it on the center of the CPU and let the weight and pressure of the heat sink distribute it. Having too much can actually cause increased temps. Hope this helps.

No.

If that processor is running that hot with a stock heatsink on idle there is something wrong with it. Even switching to a 212 won't decrease your temperature by more then 20c, which still leaves you over the recommended temp for the Phenom II.

Maybe the temperature sensors are busted. That or there's something wrong with the heatsink for fan.

If you know how to apply TIM and a heatsink, I'd worry there's something very wrong with either that mobo or processor.

While the comp is running, take the side off and touch the heatsink. You'll definitely notice if it's really 69 degrees or 34. If there's TIM missing and the heat isn't transferred it won't matter much of course.

I was getting 60C idle with my i7 till I switched to watercooling. I got myself a Corsair H50, which for now it's really nice. Getting 20c idle and 28c max with full load. However don't do something as stupid as I did and not understand that it comes pre-installed with coolant.

Took me forever to put it back together..

Dude I'm at 27C idle and 54C on load with a 212+ 4ghz. That is an insane temp being idle.

MRCOOLER? I am afraid you are going to have to change your username. (Unless you get those temps down.)

AIDA64 seems to work well for temps, and testing under loads. AMD is supported. (I believe.)
