So is it confirmed now? SSD on X58 = 60% performance to Newer chipset?

Hi, Just jumped aboard to the SSD train only to find out regardless of settings, AHCI, Tweaks, etc...X58 cannot deliver the full speed (even tho its still fast) of 500mbs plus. All the benchmarks seem to cap my Crucial m4 256gb at around 250mbs vs 500mbs. Is this true? Sad news if true at 3am Still fast tho no complaints besides low benchmarks..In practice its weird to have to retrain clicking on stuff as it all happens instantly...

Just installed my 128Gb M4 tonight too. Came with the 0009 firmware. On my Marvell 9128 controller, I get ~380MB/s, vs ~200ish if I use the Intel controller with the Rapid Storage software installed.

Don't use Marvell controller, use Intel SATA 3Gb/s for superior random speeds and TRIM support.
This is the age old problem of the Marvell 6GB/s controller being a piece of garbage. All those x58 boards sold which claimed to support sata 6GB/s were basically lying. The Marvell controller is not capable at all.

You will probably have a better overall experience if you just plug the drive into one of your Intel 3GB/s ports. Those people with an LGA1155 board have nice fancy Intel 6GB/s ports on them which are excellent and will allow you to see advertised speeds.

Indeed it's frustrating when you think your board supports decent quality sata 6GB/s and find out it doesn't. That said, you still have an outstanding drive and your Intel 3GB/s ports are really good, the two paired together is still a formidable combination. If and when you upgrade boards at some point in the future you're ready to take full advantage.

Using Intel port, will try a different one. Do the sata cables matter? Used ones that came with mobo
