Thread Starter
Remains to be seen if E5s will be as overclockable as their precedessors tho.

Much dependency on Intel's product here. The mobo can provide all the OC features but if the processor is crippled, it may become much ado about nothing.

In any case I think this board or one like it will find a home in my TH10 in a quarter or two.

EVGA wouldn't have wasted their time building the board if the CPUs weren't capable of being OCed.

If only the found a way to include some kind of dedicated chip for cpu comunication on the motherboard, and be able to use desktop line CPUs this kind of tech will be way more popular.

Still....awesome, having a dual socket mobo is on my "todo b4 death" list xD

Intel would probably sue them if they managed to do that.

There is also the latency issue and extra heat involved, extra space needed on the motherboard.. Intel's QPI works great for Xeon processors, "AFAIK" it's a 1366 with more cache and a extra QPI enabled inside that allows it to communicate with the other CPU, if you took all this out of the box and moved it externally, the engineering involved would probably not be worth it..

Oh yes, and Intel will probably sue..

SR* is overkill for most, but if you do insane amounts of rendering, complicated math crunching, hardcore folder, SETI, Take your pick.. anything that taxes any threads you give it and asks for more, if you don't fall into any of these categories, then it's just e-peen factor for more of us..

Oh this is in the Caselabs thread. I think people with the Lian li pc v2120 will do fine do, seeing thats one of the cheapest "regular" manus (CL, MM, and DD don't count). Pretty cool withthe sr3, wonder if people will load with quadro cards on this one or make a folding farm. Dunno who else buys these.

Not fake. Jacob from EVGA posted this on his twitter.

Anyhow, board is meh. Layout kills it for me. I was planning on getting this for my workstation build but it looks like I'll just settle with the same rendering cluster I have now. Is it me or does the next lineup of motherboards suck? I think I'll just wait for Haswell/Devastator.
