Im thinking of getting a second card for my rig, i have a gtx295 and im wondering what would be a good option, i was thinking of a card that has dx11 and use the 295 for physics, is this possible or would i be better of with 1 card, or would i be better with 2 gtx295s without dx11. sorry im a noob with this and am on a budget!

Mainly as i want as much as possible with bf3, i played the beta with everything on high with 1 card and it wasn't that bad!

Yeah... as beastly as the 295s are they are becoming slightly dated. BF3 and DX11 will be beautiful together.

I'd pick up a GTX580 or 570 if you could.

You mean like a GTX570 as main card and the 295 as PhysX?

I think you'd see a slight benefit from this, but I couldn't tell ya if the heat and powerdraw would be worth it. Also there's the fact that not many games even use PhysX.

Ok........ would there be a huge difference in the 570 compared to the 295 or should i wait for the funds for a 580.

To be perfectly honest, the only single GPU that would be a significant upgrade from a 295 would be the 580.

The 295 is only slightly slower than a 480 (which is roughly equivalent to a 570).

If you're happy with your current performance, you may as well skip Fermi altogether. You're really not missing much with DX11.

As far as physX cards are concerned, they're not necessary with current gen cards in most cases. Most 400/500 series GPUs are fast enough to handle physX and rendering at the same. And, since physX can only be run on one gpu core at a time, using a dual card like a 295 for it would be fairly pointless.

He may not be gaining much performance, albeit some.

However, he will have less power draw, less heat, and DX11.

Although if you can wait, a 3GB GTX 580 is a beautiful thing

As is Kepler though...

I agree, i currently have SLI 285's (slightly more powerful than a 295) and i'm still very happy with FPS in all games, I'd not see a significant upgrade unless i went SLI 570's or 580's

Getting another 295 (very cheap at the mo) would give you 4 x GTX260/275's which is some SERIOUS gpu power, the only problem i can see you running into is quad sli support, but other than that you should be crunching those DX10 FPS into next century!
