GTX 570 SLI vs GTX 580? - Page 2

1 x 580 would be more than enough to run everything you need and will also have less problems than SLI 570s.
And having a 580 will also open the gate of SLI 580s in the future.

I had a GTX 580 before, and sold it to maximize the rest of my rig and buy books. I regret it a bit, even though I still have some cash left over + my 570. I'm looking to buy another once again. Get the GTX 580, and sli later.

Here are some numbers between single gtx580 and gtx 570 sli. Hope this helps.

i was in the same situation and i went with a GTX580. buy the fastest single card you can at the moment and upgrade to the next fastest single card when it becomes available. SLI when u feel that your single fastest gpu is giving up on you. (Which is rarely the case.) smile.gif

580, since pairing another one would be an upgrade instead of scrapping sli-570s to upgrade later on.

Good job, you won't be disappointed in having the fastest single GPU... on top of that two... to destroy everything you throw at it...

Definitely the single 580.

If you had a 570 to begin with already then I would suggest another 570 to SLI.

Wow the 6870 Cf are scary lol wished they had 2gb versions
but overal go with 570SLi setup is faster than a single 580 and u dont have to worry about upgrading for the next 3-4years
post #20 of 29
Finally a smart post! I recently returned two 580 3gb classified gpu's because it was EXTREME overkill!. 580 sli and 570 sli perform prettly close and are only serperated by like 3-10 FPS yet the 570 sli will be around $400.00 less....The gtx 580 is WAY overpriced and wasnt worth it in my opinion. I can't even recommend the 580 for a single gpu setup due to its price/perfomance ratio... Plus, after playing games like BF3, I'm sure you'll be disappointed and would want to Sli it for an additional $500+ smh...If you can find a USED gtx 580 then I say go for it! But honestly it's just not worth it for the $500-->$600(3gb version) price tag....If you insist on upgrading to Kepler and don't want to sli the gtx 570, I would have to suggest two 560 ti 2gb gpu's.....You'll have the extra Vram, and it'll outperform the single gtx 580 by a decent margin all for the same price.

P.S. This advice is from a guy who started out with CF 6970 and side graded to 570 TF:III SLI and upgraded-->580 3gb SLI(returned) and will probably go back to 570 classified SLI or 560 ti 2gb SLI.
