Upgrage my rusty rig

Thread Starter
Hi guys,
I'm about to upgrade my system after long waiting for amd fx series cpu's.
For now this rig is not meant for gaming. I will use it for photoshop/lightroom and regular stuff (programming, watching HD content etc.)
My main dilemma as you might guessed is to go with Intel 2500k or AMD 8120?
Which one will be best for me?

You can see my current rig bellow, I want to replace only the CPU, MB, memory, and if needed PSU.

My budget for is around 400-500$ (Without the PSU).
By the way I need to get the parts from newegg.
So I would like to get a recommendation for this three things.

Thanks ahead ,
Liran.

Depending on how much rendering you're doing i'd suggest the FX, but that really is the only reason i'd suggest getting that cpu, if you render like 80% of the time.

If you don't do much rendering i'd say the i5 2500k is a good alternative.

AMD hasn't had the best feedback lately.
Personally I would go with what Amann said.
I love my 2500K, I have done light Photoshop C4D and after effects and had no problems with it.

I forgot to mention that I'm intend to to some OC to the CPU so the MB must be capable of doing some OC'ing.

Amann, Why you've picked this pricey corsair memory? A cheaper gskill set won't act the same?

t.herrod, I'm not going to render videos or 3D graphics (Not that I need for this time) but I am an amateur photographer and will use the system among other things to edit large RAW files from my DSLR using photoshop and lightroom (Not in a professional daily basis).

Does my enermax 500w will do fine for this system?
And about the motherboard, is there any alternative or this is the best bang for buck?

was going for the best timings and voltages for your ram I could find and stay within your price range. Heres a cheaper set of Gskill with higher timings but same low voltage which may give you some room to tighten the timings a bit

EDIT: also I think strongly the mb I suggested is the best bang for the buck for what your looking for

I've read some review about this asus motherboard and some people say it has some problems with the onboard sound card.
How about this one:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813157271
Is it better? is there anything else better than that that I can get for my money?

Edit:
About the memory, is it best to get a triple channel kit or dual chanel kit with the 2500k? or there is no noticeable difference in performance?
This kits are pretty cheap:

1600 is fine or should I get faster speed?
