A 2Gb GTX 570 with AMD drivers (currently better at the moment) with CFX scaling that beats GTX 580 SLI on some occasions is win. It has Eyefinity over 3 different monitors, and the ability to CFX with 6990 in the future. Sure, it doesnt have Physx and Cuda, but do you really use them?
I'm pretty sure you didn't mean the GTX570 XD

I have the ASUS 580 DCII and I can say the fans keep it nice and cold even if you OC it a a lot. I have my 580 at 870/1740/1025 and it barely scrapes 60c while folding 24/7

You would be greatly pleased with a 6970, or get a 6950 and flash it to the 6970, its simple and a great bang for your buck.

ASUS ENGTX570 DCII/2DIS/1280MD5

SPARKLE SXX5801536D5NM

XFX HD-695X-CDFC

XFX HD-697A-CNFC

Which one should I get? I'm leaning more towards the 6970.
I would vote for asus gtx570 direct cuII,it has lesser power consumption over hd6970 and it still beats the hd6970 in most of the benchmarks and games + it can OC like a beast.

A single 570 maxed out BC2 at 2304x1440 @ 85Hz.
I love nvidia, but am wondering about that statement. Was that with TSAA on or off? what are the settings in the nvidia control panel to achieve such high fps??

I will let these benches speak for themselves... The GTX 580 is clearly the better card over the HD 6870, and even though the HD 6970 is more future proofed with its 2GB of VRAM and ability to CF with a 6990, it doesn't respond as well to OC and is in general a less powerful GPU. However the GTX 580 does cost $100 more, and even though the 6970 isn't as good, all of the benches are more than playable, even @ 2560x1600... So whatever you think is best for your money. I think you should choose between one of those 2 cards though IMO. I have regretted not spending enough more than spending too much. Look at my i5-2300, now I am going to have to go through the trouble of selling it, losing cash in the process to buy a 2500K . Shell out, or you will have to sell out...

I use vsync, so I cap out at 85Hz 24/7. With AA and AF at 2x.
