Finally gave in and went to the dark side ;)

Well gang I finally gave in and went with Intel for my upgrade.

I had been waiting and waiting and waiting forever as the months dragged on, thinking "what if Bulldozer is really good? Then I'll be kicking myself for going Intel when I could've gotten a Bulldozer!"

Well we all know how that turned out! I was going to wait for Black Friday or the next time I saw a killer deal, however, just decided to go for it with a completely brand new system from scratch.

My old (current) PC specs (until the new system parts get here):
1090T @ 3.8Ghz
8GB RAM
64 GB SSD (for OS)
256 GB SSD (for Games)
GTX 460 768MB

I lucked out on the SSDs, this was back when Crucial and Mushin were doing their weekly SSD refurb crazy deals. They've been great so far, and this was awhile ago, so, a success story with SSD refurbs here! wink.gif

Went with Amazon because you save so much not having to pay tax or shipping. They were out of the motherboard I wanted though so went with TigerDirect there (also to avoid tax). Used a $10 new customer sign up offer to take care of the shipping and take a little off the price as well:)

I am also trying two 6950's in CrossFire mode this time. Went with those over the GTX 580 because I've never tried dual cards before and they seem to blow away a single 580 in most games (and always beat it in the rest- any tips on that or the build below appreciated):

New build:

I put the exact same items in my cart at NewEgg and Amazon and compared the final cost and Amazon was cheaper because the sales tax KILLS you, also you get free shipping at Amazon biggrin.gif

I am going to grab the 256gb drive from the old system and use it as the main drive in the new one smile.gif

If you happened to live in CA the sales tax is ridiculous for Newegg. Amazon is tax free. redface.gif

Seriously, it's like 10% sales tax. It hurts.

Tack on shipping for each item?

Ick.

nice
I too got tired of waiting and was disapointed with Bulldozer
Was not disappointed when I went intel the week BD came out lol
in hindsight, I shouldve bought a better motherboard, but this one is doing fine for now.

In Ontario, Canada sales tax is 13%, that's like 150$ extra on a 1000 - 1100 build.
