Edit: Don't even bring up charities. Nobody has to give a cent to charities, it's your money and you do what you want with it.

The incident with the child has been documented in court, and has been reported by multiple news sources, in the end he had to pay up. Yes you can do whatever you want with your money I guess, but the whole thing with his daughter is really what defines Steve Jobs as a person to me. He basically denied paternity because he didn't want to be separated from his fortune.

I'm sick of all of you people judging somebody based on what they gave back. Jobs worked damn hard for that money, he was a friggin' genius. Who cares what he does with it?

Jobs CREATED the markets that he created products in. The iPhone was revolutionary... Way better than any other smartphones at the time. The MacBook Air? Are you friggin' kidding me? I own one, the thing is beautiful. iPod? Same story.

I'm not a fanboy, but I appreciate innovation. The only thing you all can bicker about is how Jobs' ethics were questionable... Are you perfect? No! Christ, get off your high horse and stop acting high and mighty.

Shut up. You're not better than him or the rest of us because of what you've given.

I may not be perfect but I know I wouldn't go out of my to disown my own child to save a few bucks. So I think in a way that does make me better them him.

So many ignorant replies and misinformation in this thread it's unbelievable. This is a good example of the rampant hatred Android users keep bottled in just waiting to explode in thread like this.

With regards to philanthropy, Jobs did donate to charities via his wife. He worked with Bono. He set up a now defunct charitable organization. He simply spent his every breath on Apple and his family. He didn't have time for charity, so he had others do it for him. He kept it private, so whatever he donated you'll never hear about.

Just because he's not like Bill Gates doesn't mean the man didn't give a damn. You people need to start reading more news and less headlines.
I am an Android user but that has nothing to do with my dislike for Jobs and his deeds. He was a greedy man who hated success of anyone but himself. His marketing tactics I think represent the worst side of capitalism and consumerism.

Okay so you use iOS and love it, good for you. I have nothing against the iPhone itself, I just can't stand it when people worship the ground Jobs walked on and make excuses for his greed and arrogance.

Nice try, GG. Google bought Android in 2005, well before the first iPhone was ever unveiled. Both companies have inspired each other to implement features, end of story.

Except you ignored the main Android developer that worked at Apple before Android ever came out.

I don't worship him, I simply acknowledge the man's contributions to my everyday life, something many of you simply won't do. Saying he is "evil" or "mean" is stupid. You don't get to the top of the industry by being Mr Niceguy. To think so is childish and naive.

LOL. If you're referring to Andy Rubin: Are you joking? He left Apple in 1992.

Just like Gates who stole his OS idea after being hired to program for Macintosh, Eric Schmidt who was on the Apple Board of Directors when the iPhone released in 2007, proceeded to steal his ideas again and go create the Google version of the iPhone.

I'd be pissed too, if everyone kept stealing my ideas and then trying to claim they're "universal".

You may like the clones better than the original but at least understand that you have a personal computer today because of him. Everyone thought he was crazy when he wanted to bring the PC into the homes of everyday people. Big Blue sure as hell scoffed at the idea of anyone outside professionals at work ever needing a computer.
