The bottom line is they're so incredibly blinded by ignorant hate that they cannot understand what Jobs did for the computer, mobile, internet, television, music, movie, and print industries. The guys fingerprints are on everything. The world would be a worse off place if he weren't around. There's a reason everyone and their mother has been talking about him for the last couple weeks. I'd like to see these haters achieve 1/16th of what he did. Then they can talk.

Sigh, these threads always turn into three people defending Apple so hatefully that everyone else stops talking.

This is why we can't have nice things.

And there are those who don't actually read the posts but just post whatever they want

I have said before I am not defending Apple or Steve Jobs, just opposing the crap attitude that these people are showing off.

Sorry, but my point stands.

Don't cry about stealing when A) you do it all the time in general and B) you stole FROM THE THING YOU'RE CRYING ABOUT.

Notifications on iOS didn't even come CLOSE to existing the way they do now. Not even in the same league. I know cause I've had iPhones since they came out. In fact I can't really even say iOS had notifications in any meaningful form at all before the Android rip.

The lock screen would show me parts of a text message and/or missed calls. If you had more than one text or a text and missed calls, you saw nothing on the lock screen other than "Missed Calls (2)".

OK. What I said was that Jobs and Wozniak got paid $700 for building a Breakout machine. It was a 50/50 partnership. Jobs done his marketing thing, while Wozniak done all the hard work. Jobs received a bonus of five grand, and chose not to share it with Wozniak.

You tried to claim the conversation was about something else, when you had no retort. So I dragged it back to the actual topic. Then you decided it was time for you to stop talking. So forgive me for having a dig at you, as you try to weasel your way out of it.

I don't see how Microsoft or Google are monopolies, in fact I hate that term.

They make good products and worked hard at keeping their footing as the most used operating system or search engine in the world.

They aren't keeping anyone from making a better operating system or search engine, it's just others aren't trying hard enough.

As for Apple, they're not trying hard enough to make their own products better, and are trying to keep the competition from growing by lawsuits.

Ubuntu has the ability to overpower Windows in the operating system market, it's just not as easy to use for the majority of the people who use computers. If Ubuntu was as easy as Windows for the everyday person, it would have a much more established footing.

If Bing didn't suck, it would have a much more established footing too in the Search Engine world. I bet if MC Hammer's search engine fails, you'll cry that Google is a monopoly for search engines.

If you actually owned an iPhone or even understood how to use one, you would know that the exact notifications in IOS5 have been on the iPhone for years. Who do you think put the iOS5 notifications on the phone? The developer that was hired by Apple recently. Go educate yourself on the topic before discussing it next time.

Apparently you've missed the past 15 years of the tech industry. You also apparently have no clue why Firefox and Chrome exist today.
