I noticed today that Newegg has a great deal on 2 SSDs.

I am looking for a SSD for my wife to run off her OS drive and a few slow loading games. (Specifically the sims 3) HC does that thing take forever to load up.

Anyway, I wanted to know if I should pull the trigger on one of these deals today.

Or should I wait for Black Friday/Cyber Monday Deals that may totally destroy these below.

90GB Corsair SSD for $109

or

120GB OCZ Agility 3 for $125

I mean the OCZ has a better per GB price...but I have heard mixed reviews about both OCZ and Corsair SSDs. nothing specifically about these drives though.

My Brand loyalty as far as SSD is concerned lies with Intel, but for an x-mas gift I will give one of these a shot unless one of you has something even better in mind.

What do you all think?

I would wait for OCZ to release their update for fixing the sandforce 2000 BSODs. Supposedly they found a fix with their firmware and it should be out soon. Until then, I would hold off or buy a Crucial M4. I am sure Mushkin an Corsair will have theirs updated as well once OCZ does.

buy her a crucial M4

those 2 you listed run on sandforce, all ive heard is people having problems with them.

I have two suggestions for a Crucial M4...

They cost almost twice as much as what I was planning to spend.

They have slower Read/Write and IOPS.

What am I missing here?
Crucial M4 has great 4k read and writes (reads are equal to Vertex 3 Max IOPS), it is by far the best reliable 3rd Gen SSD on the market and the newest firmware makes it even faster. If you want to risk your SSD having BSOD issues, then go for the force 3 but they say they will have a fix for it soon anyways. Its your call, we are just giving you options.

Black Friday is a joke, you might get $5 off. Doubt it. Last few years Black Friday is just hype to get people to buy stuff, 99% of the deals suck.

I would just get an M4 and call it a day.

I appreciate the other options, I was just wanting some more background information on the choice. Considering I do not see that specific drive in any of the responders signature rigs.

I also am looking at the <$130 range. We have a tight budget of $300/ this year for X-Mas and I would like to get her a few other things.

The M4 at the same price point is just too tiny for her application:
OS 14GB
WoW 30GB
Sims 3 Damn near 30GB
Steam <10GB

As for the BSoD...In building her rig out from my older parts when i built my new rig...I have seen just about every BSoD ever known. (Maybe a few others that no one has ever seen) I think that for her application on an older board we may or may not run into issues before the firmware release.

I do understand what you are syaing...It is one of the main reasons I went with Intel's on my sig rig. (No worries, no headaches)

Again TY for the Feedback, would you have any other suggestions that are closer to the price point?

Both drives you mentioned don't perform as well as the M4. You'd need a Vertex 3 or Force GT to approach the M4's performance.

That's why the two drives you listed are cheaper. Well, that and the bsod bug which hopefully was solved by OCZ firmware 2.15

Oh let me throw a wrench in the works...SATA II only on her board.

I completely forgot to mention that.

Also...forget the Crucial M4 Exists...it is out of my price range.
