Corsair H100 for 2500k??

Thread Starter
Ok guys and gals, so I have a 2500k that is currently air cooled with the cooler in my sig. I am thinking of going for a H100, they are on sale right now and I can pick one up for about $89. Basically, I am testing out 5ghz clocks on my chip right now, and I am maxing at about 70C while folding bigadv units. Would this be a worthwhile investment? Does anyone have experience with these "watercoolers" ? I dont want to spend $89 and get the same temps

Thanks for any input on the matter.

Whats your ambient? With the H100 you should be able to keep your proc in upper 50c to low 60c range.

ambient is around 65-70F normally, sometimes colder. I am a nazi when it comes to turning on the heat.

I ran a modded H50 for a while.... 4.9ghz stable OC at 72c peak.
H100 should do alot more damage to the heat scale though.

It's going to be loud unless you change the fans out to AP-15's. I'd get the Silver Arrow or Noctua NH-D14.

Yeah, if this is your first time experimenting with these types of cpu water cooling; they're great. I've used the H70 in the past for a i7 950 and currently for an overclocked 2500k.

My temps on my OC'd 2500k @ 4.4GHz never goes over 60 degrees Celsius.

If space allows, you can set up a total of 4 fans on the H100's radiator, 2 on each side doing push pull.

My next high-end build I will probably use the H100 if not a full out water cooled system.

Antec 920, is also a pretty good all in one. Smaller than h100 makes it a little easier to work with.
