How loud is the MCP35X supposed to be?

I just picked up an MCR320-Drive R2 Rad/Pump/Res and its running great so far. My question is how loud is the pump supposed to be? Theres an audible vibration/whine coming from it and im wondering if thats normal or not... if it is how do I silence it?

Thanks guys!

Its mounted vertically like so:

You might have air on the system trapped at its highest point. And in your case its the bottom/top of the rad. try turning the pc upside down to bleed the air out

Is the pump plugged into a PWM header? If so what RPM is it turning?

My 355 is loud if it has air going through it or is touching anything solid. It's pretty quiet when I throw a layered mousepad cushion under it. In any event, I doubt there's anything wrong with your setup - I imagine some noise is normal, unfortunately.

If you hook up the PWM cable to your motherboard, you can bring it down below 50% of max speed which is noticeably quieter (otherwise, it runs at 100%). Also, make sure to insulate the sound instead of mounting it directly onto your case.

it is basically forced into the case and pushing up against the bottom of the case...

At lowest throttle (around 1400-1500 RPM), the 35X should be close to silent. Meaning you either have bubbles, or something Is wonky with the pump.

I juts vibration isolated it on some a noise isolating square.. Its no longer jammed into the case... and its still making noise with it being connected to the motherboard..

I do however hear A LOT of air passing through the pump even though ive let the system "air out" .... do you think its defective?
