Lamptron FC5 V2 question

Thread Starter
Hey not sure if this is the right place for this but I figured fan controller + fan = air cooling . Anyway I just received my Lamptron FC5 V2 today and I've got my GT AP-15's hooked up 1 per channel atm. Well at full blast it wont hit 12v or run them at full rpm. Is this something wrong with the unit our have I honestly started hitting the limits of my 750W psu? Anyhow thanks.

The fan controlls sometimes don't give out the full voltage to supplyed, even when set to the lowerest resistance.

Do you have a multimeter? - Is that were you are getting the less than 12V from or are you just not reading 1850RPM.

I might have one laying around but I'm not sure. Its registering up to 11.7v which is very close but the rpm readout isn't even among all 3 gt's. The fan 1 channel only hits 1780rpm, fan2 hits 1740 and fan3 is 1720 rpm, and all are registering 11.6-11.7v.

Read out's wont be the same- all the fan specs and I believe same goes for the fan controller is +/- 10% type of thing so the fans could spin 185 RPM's less or more and it would be considered OK according to specs....

My GT AP-15 does 1650 RPM on a Lamptron FC6. Though it is on a heatsink. All my other fans are around their spec speed. Not too bothered by it, 1650 is kind of loud. Just thought it was weird.

My AP-14 (1450rpm) does 1420-1440 in my FC5v2, voltage oscillates between 11.9 and 12.2. Note that I'm using a dust filter.

See urs is going from 11.9-12.2 mine caps at 11.7 volts. I mean I'm running them lower than that now for a quiet setup and normal gaming like wow the temps were pretty much the same. Just noticed it took a tiny bit longer to cool down to normal idle temps. So idk.

If you plug the fans in a MB header, at what speed do they run? What's the reading the mb gives of the +12V line?

I have right about the same fan readout's on a cheaper zalman fan controller if that's normal, i'm just not that anes about 50/80/100rpm's but i probly would be if i were running 300/400/500rpm lower.

That's normal. If you read the specifications of any fans, there is always a notation stating the speed is -/+10%.
